is located at the southern tip of
Napa Valley, California American Canyon is located just north of

County, east of
City of Sonoma in

and West of The
City of Suisun in

AMERICAN CANYON, incorporated in 1992 is the second largest city (population, 9,217) in the Napa Valley surpassed only by City of Napa. American Canyon has spent I several years setting up
government and in 1995 it adopted a general plan that will guide growth.
In 1999 residents voted to establish a center that would include restaurants, a supermarket, space for art shows, a winery and other attractions. The center would cover 29 acres and generate, if all goes well, about 800 jobs. The city of American Canyon is patrolled by sheriff's deputies.
Napa Valley Unified District handled education. There is a small airport north of town as well as an Industrial park.

In the 1970s and 1980s, developers discovered Vallejo, added subdivision after subdivision and when they got to the county line, kept going. American Canyon, which extends down to the Napa River, mixes old and new tract housing, from the 1950s to the 1990s. The best looking homes can be found in a hilly section on the north side. Mobile home parks on the east side of Highway 29. On the west side, the streets dead end in the marshes of the Napa River. Civic buildings can be found in the middle of the residential tracts. There is not too much in the way of town shopping
but that is being built up very quickly Drive a few blocks and you'll see Vallejo's Wal-Mart and a giant supermarket. Also nearby are Six Flags- Marine World and county fairgrounds.
Golf course are just outside city limits. There is a large park hooked up to elementary school.
